Hey animal lovers!

I promise I will not post some animal abused pictures. Even thinking of it makes me cry so I wouldn’t want to have those nasty pictures up on my blog and cry every time I read my own blog.

This post is about HOW you can help! And actually there are so many ways for you to help, not just donating.. Please share this post to your friends family and every animal lovers out there!

So here we goooo :)

Jakara Animal Aid Network is located in Kemang, Jakarta Selatan.

You can open up their website here: and learn more.

So one of their programs are rescuing dogs or cats. Those dogs/cats came either from the streets, or from a family who gave up on them because either they are moving out or they just don’t know how to take care of them so they ended up treating them super badly (this made me so furious), like putting them on a small cage 24hours, never shower them, walk them, or give any sort of medication that they needed.

Open this link to read the success stories, you will not believe that those are the same dog/cat! Please note that some of the pictures are disturbing. But if you have to close your eyes of their ‘before’ pictures, imagine being them :(

So if you see a stray dog/cat that needs to be rescue or people who treats their pet badly, just contact them or just bring them to their office, or you can also contact me and I’ll contact them :)

So what happens to the dogs and cats that they rescued?

Because they don’t have a big place to keep them, they need your help!

Believe it or not, there are so many ways which you can help those poor dogs and cats!

1. Adopting

This is the best way to help. Because what those poor animals need, is love and a home. You will be surprised to see the dogs/cats available for adopting, because they are so cute!! and they are not just mixed-breed or anjing ‘kampung’, there are even pomeranians, poodles, labrador, cihuahua, golden retreiver etc!

I almost cried when I saw this dog available for adoption. Geez it looked so much like my previous dog :(

So cuteeeeee T______T

I wish I could adopt, but I have more than 10 dogs at come (also one very lazy fluffy cat). I’m sure some of you are like me, want to adopt but for whatever reason can’t. So what other option do we have?

2. Sponsor

This is something that I’m doing right now, I’m sponsoring them! And sponsoring could be by paying for their food/medication, or just by sending them whatever do you think they need like dog/cat foods, treats, toys, vitamins, etc!

You can do it monthly, or can just do it any time you want. If you have a few bags of cat/dog foods, why not donate just one? I’m sure it’s not that hard to do :)

Please feel free to contact me if you want to sponsor something, if you live nearby from my house (Jakarta Selatan) I would be happy (if I’m around in Jakarta) to pick them up from your house.

Anyway, I’m sure you have lots of friends who have dogs/cats right? If they donate just one bag of foods each, and you have 10 friends, that’s 10 bags of cat/dog foods already! It certainly would help the dogs/cats there are the sanctuary!

This is actually what I’m doing this second, I’m bbm-ing all my friends for donations of foods/ treats/ toys etc. If I can do it, you can do it too! Come on :)

3. Foster

This is another way of helping out which means SO MUCH for the animals, it’s providing a foster home for those animals who are waiting for adoption. So basically it’s like adopting them, but not permanently. Some fostering could take around several weeks to several months, just depending on when the dogs/cats would be adopted.

This is actually what I’m begging my mom to let me do. I will be in Jakarta next week for around 10 days and I would love to foster them! Wish me luck!

4. Donate

Look up to your bag/shoes and see how much does it worth. I’m sure donating some money wouldn’t make you broke as hell :) Jakarta animal aid accepts any amount of money that you would like to donate!

You can either just bring and give the money straight to their office or send the money to to:

See, there are so many ways to help!

JAAN concerns are not just for dogs and cats, but also other animals!

Some of their projects are about monkeys which were rescued from being forced to dance on the streets. Yes, topeng monyet!

Topeng Monyet

Ever since I was little, I have never thought that topeng monyets are fascinating AT ALL. I’ve never want to see them, even when I was just sitting in my car, passing them on the streets, I would always look away. These monkeys are captured from their habitat, caged at night, and forced to dance with a chain on it’s neck until the sun goes down. They are not feed properly and definitely not vaccinated. While actually monkeys could carry diseases that could spread to humans such as, hepatitis.

JAAL help rescued these poor monkeys from the streets and they send them to a rescue center in Sukabumi and paid for their foods and medicines.

The fee for adopting a monkey is Rp.250.000/month for their foods and medicines and you can support a particular monkey by paying that amount each month! If you ‘adopt’ a particular monkey, you could get updates from them about your monkey :) And really, Rp.250.000 is not even Rp.10.000 a day, I’m sure you would survive even tho you spare Rp.10.000 a day right? :)

I’m also supporting or ‘adopting’ a monkey! If you want to help, email them or me :)

If you see a topeng monyet on your neighborhood or on the streets, please take pictures of them and send it to them or me by email! and don’t forget to include the location.

Carriage Horses

Another issue is Delman or Andong!

I’m sure every one of you are familiar with this! To be honest, when I was little I remember hopping to one. If only I knew more…

But since 2008, the carriage horses are not allowed to enter Monas, the authorities had send police to evict all carriage horses from the area with force. They force they used are hitting the owners and horses to get rid of them, even one horse broke its leg during this clash :(

And because the owners has no money, they make all the horse shoes themselves. Those are made of metal plates or rubber, and they use normal nails to attach the shoes to the feet and most of the nails are crooked so it causes the outside of the feet to crack and the inside to get infected (can never imagine how painful it is).

The harnesses (you know those ropes to tie the saddles?) that are used for the horses are also home made and put directly on the skin of the horses without protection making open wounds (if you see the pictures from the link, it is so disturbing *tears*) and the owners pour mercury from batteries and gasoline in to the wounds to dry them up *tears*

JAAN are now trying to help these poor horses by making regular visits there to provide medical and preventative treatments to the horses, also explaining and educating the owners what they are doing and why. In the future JAAN is hoping to obtain temporary shelters for the horses where they can rest in-between working hours. Animal welfare though will be hardly understood by people who face poor welfare themselves, but if we can explain them that if the welfare of their horses is improved, their own welfare will improve as well.

JAAN plans to construct a sanctuary for older horses to provide them the well deserved retirement they need badly after working endlessly for so many years.

Practical donations can be send to their office and for financial donations you could transferred it to the same bank account I mentioned above :)

Something from the heart: Hate.

This will be a very long post. Scroll down and see for yourself and feel free to close this page it you think is too long. But this is something I wanted to write to you, hopefully it could be helpful to someone out there :)

This one two days I have been receiving hate question from my formspring. I know that those comments came from like 1 or 2 haters, since the questions came at the same time and has similar way of writing.

What’s funny on this hateful questions is that not even ONE of them mentioned about a personal mistake I made towards them. The comments just shows random hateful things which are just a bunch of madeup bullshits.

An example, some anonymous questioned me about where is a good place to celebrate her birthday in Jakarta. The last time I celebrated my birthday in Jakarta was almost 4 years ago. So I answered this cafe called ‘Black Cat’ because it a quite well-known cafe that I know is not located inside a mall and is not THAT crowded, and I heard from a bunch of people that it’s pretty good. It’s a Jazz and Blues cafe. Sounds pretty good huh?

I personally don’t go there often, I went there once, and even that is only a few minutes cause I was just saying hello to my friends.

And you know what? A hateful comment came after that starts mocking me and saying that I am a lesbian cause I came there and saying that I broke up with my boyfriend because I turned into a lesbian. Can’t you just see how stupid and irrelevant that this? There I was trying to help someone for their birthday party. And then came this pathetic loser saying that I was lesbian.

Another thing is that someone said (anonymously of course) that she hates seeing me in the morning here in Singapore and she is so mad from seeing me that she wanted to punch me. She wrote in Indonesian so I know she’s Indo. And you know what? I only know probably 10 Indonesians here. And if I passed one of them in the morning I must’ve recognize her. But not once in my mornings that I have passed one of my indo friends here in Sg. Which means that this anonymous hater of mine which hated me so much that she wanted to punch me is not somebody I know in real life.

Oh this person stalks me a lot, I can tell. I don’t even know her and she knows what I look like (not just in pictures then but also in real life) knows that I’m currently living in Singapore (I’m only here since like.. May?) and KNOWS that I graduated from St. Andrews College in Cambridge. Stalker much?

Isn’t it pathetic then, that she knows all that information about me (so much more than those 3 I believe) and that she creates this particular strong feeling about me, yet I don’t even know her? Like she must have spent at least SOME of her time just digging information about me. Opening up my formspring page, reading the responses. Either opening my Facebook or my Blog or something and then spent some of her time just thinking about me. But yet she is her existence is so not important to me that I don’t even know her. I feel sorry for her.

Something I learnt from reading a few passages back then and I learn on how and why do you build up hatred towards someone you don’t know that you don’t really have personal issues or even you don’t really know.

Not liking someone because that person has different taste or views or taste is normal. But to HATE someone because of that is childish. There are GAZILLIONS of people in this world and how on earth would you expect for everyone to think alike?

So how did that hate grew inside you?

There’s this quote I found a few days ago.

"People who hate you are just your confused admirers. They can’t figure out the reason why everyone loves you."

So lemme give you an example.

Justin Bieber is so so so so freakn famous even tho his songs are a bit ‘cheesy’ and some music experts criticizes him regarding that. Sure, people have different taste in music. And you don’t expect EVERYONE to like him. But somewhere in the world there are LOTS of his haters. And why do they hate? Why don’t they just accept the fact that his songs are not their taste and listen to other music? Because of 1, jealousy. What they hate the most about Justin Bieber is that they think he doesn’t deserve the amount of fame and recognition that he has now. And to know that Justin Bieber is still up there, on the top of his successful career, pisses them off.

They, who have different taste of music, realized that even that Justin Bieber sang some cheesy pop songs, is more famous / successful / loved than them. And because there’s this small awareness inside of them, they didn’t accept that thus creating those hatred feeling inside them, start looking for his weaknesses or mistakes in order to make them feel good about themselves, posting them online, making hate clubs so that they would feel better about themselves when they find other people hating him too. Things like “I’d rather be regular people and not like Justin Bieber, at least I’m not gay” (cause I heard this gay rumor everywhere) but guess what? He has a girlfriend. A famous pretty and sexy one, (and I’m not their fan) most likely more beautiful than any girlfriends that those haters will ever have. And if you think about is, he’s Justin Beiber. He could be with probably ANY girl he wanted to be. Just probably needs to point at one. As easy as that.

I’m not really a Selena or Justin’s fan. Perfectly neutral.

I found this other quote I find is true.

"A rattlesnake, if cornered will become so angry it will bite itself. That is exactly what the harboring of hate and resentment against others is- a biting of oneself. We think we are harming others in holding these spites and hates but the deeper harm is to ourselves." -E. Stanley Jones

It’s true. You may be wasting your time in stalking or hating or just being mad at me or anyone but in real life you didn’t harm me, you harm yourself. Your childish act of hatred didn’t upset me, in fact, it made me feel so much better about myself. That I am blessed with this way of thinking instead of yours. You made me feel so happy that I am me not you. And that there are many ‘lost’ people out there with hatred and grudge on their heart instead of love.

I want you readers to know my story, to know my way of thinking. This is a long post I know, but it’s free, and closing it is only a click away. But anyway I am here to share, and hopefully helped people who needs it.

I didn’t have this way of thinking since I was born tho. I was a pretty normal teenager before, a whining temperamental typical teenager before really understand the meaning and the power of love and forgiveness.

But then I learn that if you love everyone and forgive easy without holding grudge, you would have peace on your heart. And peace is priceless. When you accept the fact that people are different, and that you don’t have to change them, just simply accept them for who they are, it would open the door in your heart of loving everyone.

“It is very important to generate a good attitude, a good heart, as much as possible. From this, happiness in both the short term and the long term for both yourself and others will come.” - Dalai Lama

Another important thing is that you have to accept that you don’t have to please everyone, and you will never please everyone. Please only those people who really matters and closest to you, and you know will stick with you forever, and most of all, please yourself cause you are all you got. When nobody is around you, when nobody is there for you, the only person who will always be there for you 24/7 is yourself. So please yourself the most.

“I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.” Bill Cosby

So smile, forgive, love, hug and be positive.

And believe me, when you have nothing in your heart except love, you will find true happiness.

"Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man’s sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice. Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love." -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Don’t ever let haters bring you down just like how my haters don’t let me down even for an inch. Love them instead. To be honest, there’s this time of in junior high school when I was so scared of my seniors. Do you know what I did? I prayed for them before going to sleep. I did, honestly. I prayed not for me to not being bullied by them but for really for them. and I felt a lot better afterwards.

Oh yeah, always love your enemies. - nothing annoys them so much. ;)

And oh for you haters, just because you know my name, doesn’t mean you know me. Pardon the swag, but I don’t get bitter, I just get better.

Lots of love,

Devina Deascal.
