Hey animal lovers!
I promise I will not post some animal abused pictures. Even thinking of it makes me cry so I wouldn’t want to have those nasty pictures up on my blog and cry every time I read my own blog.
This post is about HOW you can help! And actually there are so many ways for you to help, not just donating.. Please share this post to your friends family and every animal lovers out there!
So here we goooo :)
Jakara Animal Aid Network is located in Kemang, Jakarta Selatan.
You can open up their website here: www.jakartaanimalaid.com and learn more.
So one of their programs are rescuing dogs or cats. Those dogs/cats came either from the streets, or from a family who gave up on them because either they are moving out or they just don’t know how to take care of them so they ended up treating them super badly (this made me so furious), like putting them on a small cage 24hours, never shower them, walk them, or give any sort of medication that they needed.
Open this link to read the success stories, you will not believe that those are the same dog/cat! Please note that some of the pictures are disturbing. But if you have to close your eyes of their ‘before’ pictures, imagine being them :(
So if you see a stray dog/cat that needs to be rescue or people who treats their pet badly, just contact them or just bring them to their office, or you can also contact me and I’ll contact them :)
So what happens to the dogs and cats that they rescued?
Because they don’t have a big place to keep them, they need your help!
Believe it or not, there are so many ways which you can help those poor dogs and cats!
This is the best way to help. Because what those poor animals need, is love and a home. You will be surprised to see the dogs/cats available for adopting, because they are so cute!! and they are not just mixed-breed or anjing ‘kampung’, there are even pomeranians, poodles, labrador, cihuahua, golden retreiver etc!
I almost cried when I saw this dog available for adoption. Geez it looked so much like my previous dog :(
So cuteeeeee T______T
I wish I could adopt, but I have more than 10 dogs at come (also one very lazy fluffy cat). I’m sure some of you are like me, want to adopt but for whatever reason can’t. So what other option do we have?

This is something that I’m doing right now, I’m sponsoring them! And sponsoring could be by paying for their food/medication, or just by sending them whatever do you think they need like dog/cat foods, treats, toys, vitamins, etc!
You can do it monthly, or can just do it any time you want. If you have a few bags of cat/dog foods, why not donate just one? I’m sure it’s not that hard to do :)
Please feel free to contact me if you want to sponsor something, if you live nearby from my house (Jakarta Selatan) I would be happy (if I’m around in Jakarta) to pick them up from your house.
Anyway, I’m sure you have lots of friends who have dogs/cats right? If they donate just one bag of foods each, and you have 10 friends, that’s 10 bags of cat/dog foods already! It certainly would help the dogs/cats there are the sanctuary!
This is actually what I’m doing this second, I’m bbm-ing all my friends for donations of foods/ treats/ toys etc. If I can do it, you can do it too! Come on :)
This is another way of helping out which means SO MUCH for the animals, it’s providing a foster home for those animals who are waiting for adoption. So basically it’s like adopting them, but not permanently. Some fostering could take around several weeks to several months, just depending on when the dogs/cats would be adopted.
This is actually what I’m begging my mom to let me do. I will be in Jakarta next week for around 10 days and I would love to foster them! Wish me luck!
Look up to your bag/shoes and see how much does it worth. I’m sure donating some money wouldn’t make you broke as hell :) Jakarta animal aid accepts any amount of money that you would like to donate!

See, there are so many ways to help!
JAAN concerns are not just for dogs and cats, but also other animals!
Some of their projects are about monkeys which were rescued from being forced to dance on the streets. Yes, topeng monyet!
Ever since I was little, I have never thought that topeng monyets are fascinating AT ALL. I’ve never want to see them, even when I was just sitting in my car, passing them on the streets, I would always look away. These monkeys are captured from their habitat, caged at night, and forced to dance with a chain on it’s neck until the sun goes down. They are not feed properly and definitely not vaccinated. While actually monkeys could carry diseases that could spread to humans such as, hepatitis.
JAAL help rescued these poor monkeys from the streets and they send them to a rescue center in Sukabumi and paid for their foods and medicines.
The fee for adopting a monkey is Rp.250.000/month for their foods and medicines and you can support a particular monkey by paying that amount each month! If you ‘adopt’ a particular monkey, you could get updates from them about your monkey :) And really, Rp.250.000 is not even Rp.10.000 a day, I’m sure you would survive even tho you spare Rp.10.000 a day right? :)
I’m also supporting or ‘adopting’ a monkey! If you want to help, email them or me :)
If you see a topeng monyet on your neighborhood or on the streets, please take pictures of them and send it to them or me by email! and don’t forget to include the location.

Another issue is Delman or Andong!
I’m sure every one of you are familiar with this! To be honest, when I was little I remember hopping to one. If only I knew more…
But since 2008, the carriage horses are not allowed to enter Monas, the authorities had send police to evict all carriage horses from the area with force. They force they used are hitting the owners and horses to get rid of them, even one horse broke its leg during this clash :(
And because the owners has no money, they make all the horse shoes themselves. Those are made of metal plates or rubber, and they use normal nails to attach the shoes to the feet and most of the nails are crooked so it causes the outside of the feet to crack and the inside to get infected (can never imagine how painful it is).
The harnesses (you know those ropes to tie the saddles?) that are used for the horses are also home made and put directly on the skin of the horses without protection making open wounds (if you see the pictures from the link, it is so disturbing *tears*) and the owners pour mercury from batteries and gasoline in to the wounds to dry them up *tears*
JAAN are now trying to help these poor horses by making regular visits there to provide medical and preventative treatments to the horses, also explaining and educating the owners what they are doing and why. In the future JAAN is hoping to obtain temporary shelters for the horses where they can rest in-between working hours. Animal welfare though will be hardly understood by people who face poor welfare themselves, but if we can explain them that if the welfare of their horses is improved, their own welfare will improve as well.
JAAN plans to construct a sanctuary for older horses to provide them the well deserved retirement they need badly after working endlessly for so many years.
Practical donations can be send to their office and for financial donations you could transferred it to the same bank account I mentioned above :)
